salamander
1. A broiler primarily used in professional kitchens to broil, brown, and toast foods. It's similar to an oven without a front door (and sometimes open on both sides, with a conveyer belt like rack that moves food from once end to the other). It's is more compact in height and depth than ovens and the overhead heating element inside can reach very high temperatures.
